We went to LEGOland, and my niece and nephew had a blast! Even Baby H was able to play a little in a giant pit full of rubber LEGOs. We were able to keep this trip budget-friendly since babies under 2 are free and we had a coupon for $5 off admission. Well be coming back, in about 5 years when our little is big enough to enjoy the rides and other play areas heh. Check him out crawling around like a champ! It is so awesome having family in Texas with us now, since it had just been us for so many years. I got Baby Hs first birthday Evite out and already got a ton of RSVPs. I didnt realize we had so many friends with children, since we rarely see anyone. Im starting to wonder how everyone is going to fit in our house. Im super excited that not only is my sister-in-law driving down with my niece and nephew, but my parents are flying in as well. My Mom is helping me a lot with the planning and has already ordered the plates, cups, utensils and decorations in a cute jungle theme. We started thinking through the major baby proofing items we will need and ordered a few gates and door knob covers online. Im a bit overwhelmed at it all, but I think we got the big stuff and should be getting it soon and plan to have it installed before the birthday party. My Goals for the upcoming week: Work out at least 3 days/week. Walking with the neighbor has really helped make this a reality. Drink more water, aim for 100 oz/day. Ive been hit or miss with it, but still working on it and joining challenges on Facebook to help remind and motivate. Catch up on my blogging to-do list and try to get ahead. I have some downtime this weekend so I might be able to get a lot done. What are you thankful for this week? What are your goals for the week ahead? Share your posts with us! I dragged my feet on the issue for years! After the big 3-0 hit and I realized it was only going to get harder from here, I agreed to give this whole kid thing a try. Even while pregnant I didnt really understand. I still didnt see it. But now? Now I cant believe it took me so long to realize that having a child is the most wonderful, beautiful thing I can do. I used to wonder why my mom friends would only ever talk about their kids. Didnt they have other interests, hobbies, things going on in their lives? I would wonder. Now I cant believe it took me so long to realize, that yes, while my child isnt 100% the only thing in my life, he is the one thing that matters the most. The one thing that is always on my mind. The one thing that makes everything else just a little less important than it used to be. And the one thing that always puts a smile on my face. Sure, I still have my hobbies and interests. I still blog (actually, more than I did before). I still read (sometimes). I still book club (not as often as Id like and he typically comes with me). I still watch TV with my husband and we go out to eat. But, having a third little person to tag along with us makes things so much more. Harder, yes, but also more fun. Im always thinking about him first, before I think about myself. I didnt realize that would be possible, but here it is. I want to take him to fun places and do activities with him, and that isnt only for him but for me as well. Now looking back I wonder why I was so resistant to this idea. Why did my opinion on the matter need to be flipped on its head? And will I agree to doing this baby thing again just because of how I feel about my little one now, despite how hard it is to be a new mom? It is interesting to see how severely a perspective can change, but I just cant see my life any other way right now. My little boy is something I didnt know my life was missing, and I cant believe it took me so long to realize it.
