Preschool Prep: What to Pack in Your Toddler’s Preschool Bag

My kids each started daycare within months of being born, and I often feel that they spend more time there than they do at our house. Daycare is like their second home. But at our daycare, things start to change around 2 years old. It gets more formal and feels a lot more preschool than daycare. There’s a lot of fun – and a lot of learning – to do! While most preschools don’t have an official supply list, there are definitely things that that a preschooler needs each day. If you’re a new or veteran preschool mom, here are just a few of the things that you might consider sending in your child’s preschool bag each day: Extra Clothes – Preschool is a fun, but messy place (think paint and glue and the occasional mud puddle that the teacher doesn’t see at recess until it’s too late). Both of my girls went through several outfits per day when they were at preschool. Luckily Everett is a little easier on his clothes, but I still pack him an extra set of clothes each day and have one extra set stored at the school…just in case! Sprout Organic Toddler Purees & Snacks – It’s normal for toddlers to be somewhat selective about what they eat, and sometimes Everett doesn’t like the lunch that is served. Even if your school offers meals, I highly recommend throwing a couple Sprout Organic Toddler Purees ( ) in your toddler’s preschool bag, that way your child always have something to eat, even if they don’t like the dish of the day. USDA certified organic food in an easy to use pouch, these foods are perfect for on the go and at school. The only problem is that sometimes they don’t make it to preschool… Diapers/Training Pants – Yes, you’ll probably keep diapers or training pants at the preschool, but what about that day your child’s teacher tells you that they need more, but you forget them on the kitchen counter on the way out the door? Pack a few extra diapers or training pants in your child’s bag. On those busy mornings, you’ll be glad you did! Wipes – These can really come in handy when your child’s teacher runs out in the middle of the day, but for me, they’re even more helpful after school. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve picked up the kids from school and surprised them with a dinner out only to find out that we don’t have wipes. It’s a disaster. While my regular stash of wipes is kept at school, I always keep a few spares in my son’s bag. Cup – They don’t use sippy cups at Everett’s school for kids once they hit 2 years old, but lots of schools still use them. If you think your child needs one be sure the cap is on tight and to drop it in their bag before you leave the house. So that’s it for my toddler’s preschool bag! Don’t forget to print the Sprout Organic coupon for $2 off 5 Sprout Foods products ( ) so you can use it while you’re out shopping to refill your toddler’s preschool bag this weekend.
